Ok, so I’m trying to fit as much into life as possible at the moment, I have pretty well got back on track in exercising and eating well and pilates are happening every day again. I am also reading everyday again, doing postgrad studies in pharmacy practice (dermatology) and taking part in a 4 week online course in nutrition and wellbeing, working 42 hours a week and getting pumped about my holidays in 4 weeks! So I decided to try a 4-week challenge for my fitness – just to focus on some important areas for me. I find it really easy to focus on just abs because I love six-packs and arms because I love seeing progress in triceps and biceps and have a hard time with my legs, probably because they are bigger than the rest of me and so a bigger challenge!
Because fitness is all about balance and pushing myself I want to aim for something beautiful, like the picture above. So for the next four weeks I am going to learn how to do the splits front ways perfectly and do a 28-day butt and leg challenge to really tone my legs up for holidays. I feel like I need to do a combination of the flexibility and strength aspect so that my muscles don’t get too tight and I love flexibility so hopefully this will just push me to keep it up – plus, I really want to be able to do the splits! I have been close so many times before that I know I can get back there again.
Check out my Pinterest splits folder here for some motivation and some tips about how to perfect the splits.
Here is what I can do at the moment, it is a far cry from the beautiful creature above!
Here is my 4-week daily butt and leg challenge program:
I am alternating each day between 5 different exercises:
Number of sets I will do each day:
1 – 20 8 REST 15 REST 22 REST
2 – 25 9 – 40 16 – 55 23 – 70
3 – 25 10 – 40 17 – 55 24 – 70
4 – 30 11 – 45 18 – 60 25 – 75
5 – 30 12 – 45 19 – 60 26 – 75
6 – 35 13 – 50 20 – 65 27 – 80
7 – 35 14 – 50 21 – 65 28 – 80
Rest days are Mondays in this case (apart from the first day) because I start early at work on Mondays so may not get time to do them – and muscles really do need a rest every now and again so it isn’t a bad thing.
I really hope I can stick to this, it will be so great to see some good progress and I love working on my legs, too!
Wish me luck!
